Optimizing the quality of patient care is what this podcast is all about and my guest for this episode is challenging the status quo by creating incredible patient experiences. Dr. Ryan Grant left a promising neurosurgery career to start Vori Health, a virtual one-stop-shop for musculoskeletal care. We discuss how he made that transition, the current challenges of the medical system to provide next-level care, and how Vori Health is answering the call for better patient experiences.

A leap of faith
Becoming a neurosurgeon is no small feat. The hours, nay, the YEARS that go into studying and perfecting those skills are daunting. So what would inspire Dr. Ryan Grant to leave it all behind? A chance to change the quality of patient care in the medical system forever with Vori Health. “I miss operating from time to time but this, for me, was too important not to do.” I could feel Dr. Grant’s passion as he detailed everything he is building and I can’t wait for you to hear our incredible conversation on this episode of Optimal Neuro|Spine.
Teamwork makes the dream work
One of the most frustrating experiences for patients in the medical system is a lack of teamwork from their various providers. A patient’s care can feel severely disjointed when treated by several different medical professionals who are barely communicating, let alone working together to create a cohesive treatment plan. That is one of the things Dr. Grant is trying to change with Vori Health. Musculoskeletal patients can virtually see their physician, physical therapist, and other specialists all in the same visit without having to leave their homes. From there, the providers collaborate and discuss a treatment plan tailored specifically to the patient. Revolutionary! Can you imagine if this was the new normal in medicine? Listen to our entire conversation to hear all the groundbreaking details.
Re-humanizing medicine
A big part of optimizing patient care is making the medical system patient-centric. No small task for sure. But Dr. Grant is re-humanizing medicine by putting the patient first at Vori Health. Treatment plans are geared toward the patient’s specific goals instead of standardized benchmarks that may not apply to everyone. When treatment plan goals are personally tailored to the patient’s physical and emotional needs, the outcomes will likely be far better because patients become invested in their healing process. Ryan expounds on these points further in the episode and I can’t wait for you to give it a listen.
